I was wondering how difficult would it be to convert the Hobby Boss Merkava armored recovery vehicle to the Namer Apc

I've been wondering something along the same lines, but more like "I wonder when HB or Ming will do a Namer".....

I believe Legend makes a conversion, but it's for the Academy kit... Perhaps using the HB ARV kit might require less surgery?

Difficult. The Namer APC has sloping sides above the track shelf, the HB Merkava repair vehicle has vertical sides.
A conversion would require a lot of "plastic surgery".

The Namer APC

Hobby Boss Merkava repair vehicle.

I think that the repair vehicle is built on chassis that were used as prototypes for the Namer APC but the final version of the Namer APC differs from the prototypes.
Do not trust me totally on this, I may be wrong. Google may turn up better evidence and/or someone who knows a lot more about IDF armour than I do will bash me over the head ...

Interesting 'side by side' comparison.

Maybe get a couple Academy Merkava 4 kits and the Hobby Boss ARV.
Cut the top half of the turret of both Academy kits http://www.abload.de/img/merkava-002rmfj.jpg to shape the upper hull of the prototype APC.

Then kit-mash it together with the Hobby Boss ARV upper and lower hull … maybe…

How about, you make it, then I can purchase the same as a plastic kit the comes out once you're finished? The latest version of the Namer has large panniers on the side that cover some "counter-measures", and mounts either a couple of different RCWS. There are some good, large scale photos out there for reference.
