Has anyone used those square resin Black Dog bases for their figures? I did a search and found news posts on the bases, but not comments on if they are good bases to use or not.

Some questions I have:

I'm wondering how many 1/35 figures can fit on these bases. Some bases are 50mm or 60mm square, which might mean just one 1/35 figure can fit on it with all the ground clutter.

Does the base look good or odd having just a part of a destroyed AFV on it?

Do any of the Black Dog bases look too cluttered with all the molded-on gear and equipment on it such as the base camp scenes?

Would these Black Dog bases with all their items and ruins take away from the focus of the figure?

Thanks in advance.

No experience with these particular bases but they look to be for a single figure with the exception of the last one which might accommodate two. I wouldn't worry too much about the "clutter" detracting from the figure as it helps add a bit of visual interest and also some perspective once the figure is added. In the end its your project so pick what you like and have fun with it. Don't over think this or you will end up with something that you don't really like or enjoy doing.

I have one of the small bases for a single Live Resin figure. Just some wooden creates in the background and spend artillery cases scattered on it. I added a backback on the ground and some jerry cans and water bottle. It suits the one figure nicely and beats having him on a plain pedestal.

Hi Peter

I have the T-34 base and although I haven't gotten around to using it yet, it looks very good. The one piece that has to be replaced on my base is the barrel. My copy is a tad warped and the barrel needs to be hollowed out as well. Fortunately, I have a few DML T-34's with both metal and plastic barrels so that shouldn't be a problem.

The T-34 base could probably take two figures fairly comfortably and three at a squeeze - suppose it all depends what you want to depict.

Thanks for the responses.

The Black Dog bases do seem of excellent quality and visually eye-catching. I might just buy one and try it.

I bought quite a few 1/35 Black Dog bases and the quality is generally excellent. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I also bought two 1/35 Black Dog figures and they have flaws in them, such as huge seam lines or a huge gouge in the arm that almost rendered the arm useless.

I do recommend the Black Dog bases though.
