From all that I've been found searching so far, it would seem the standard and most prevalent kind, were a field grey type colour, and made of wool. What about black or brown leather ones?---Rare? or frequently used?

I'm sure you could easily use artist's license when it comes to glove colour. The Wehrmacht was so unprepared for the winter in Russia, for instance, the soldiers would get gloves from any source they could find. I'm sure black or brown, or even tan would be completely acceptable.

I've seen field gray wool and darker leather. I think the dark thinner leather type are actually luftwaffe possibly.

Officer's pattern gloves throughout the Wehrmacht were a pale grey suede.

Of course, as already pointed out, whatever worked would have been worn especially in Russia.

'Hope this helps.
