Hello Folks,
The start of a simple diorama, featuring tiger Model's "Nagmachon", "T-walls and Iraq street" from Phoenix Models and a waste container, scratch built and painted by my friend, Ilan Levy.

Wow, fine work on all that dusty grime. That waste container looks great.

Hi Dave,
If you mean the "Nagmachon", you can find my impressions here :
http://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/245406&page=1As for the base, it's a dead simple vacuum formed kit.

Had I known earlier that this kit contains so many parts, probably I wouldn't have built it...Fortunately I didn't know...

Nice job, Israel. I like your build but the dumpster really adds some color and interest to the diorama. Will you be adding a figure to show off how big this sucker really is?

Simple yet effective display. Really like the dumpster, nice and beat up. As it has been explained to me that this vehicle has been "optimized" for urban combat, what other elements, aside from the bar armor, make it so. There appears to be no main armament so what exactly is housed in the turret? New to modern armor so I have lots of questions, hope you don't mind. Thanks.

That's exactly the purpose of these kind of forums.
Only the Nagmachon "Doghouse" is optimized for urban warfare: it's raised superstructure allows excellent 360 degrees view of the surroundings - a vital ability in urban environment. Nagmachons are often used for escorting, supervising and securing D9's and convoys. Basically it's an extremely heavily armored IFV with excellent mine resistance, which main purpose is to carry troops (up to 10). The Nagmachon is NOT designed to encounter with enemy APCs or tanks (hence the light armament), but rather to provide protection from rocket propelled grenades, mines and IEDs for the occupants.
Hope that helped,

So I take it that there is additional belly armor as well and a host of electronics that help to detect IEDs and such. And this thing is based on a centurion chassis? Boy the Israelis really do get the most mileage out of their resources. But it's still very ugly! Thanks.

Correct. It's an MRAP on steroids. The star aerial at the rear (as far as remember) is for jamming IEDs.

It's a small country with limited resources. Upgraded Shermans served till the early 80's, C-47s were used till the early 2000's. There are many such examples.

I'ts an IFV, not a beauty contest candidate. It gets the job that was designed for done.

Thats an interesting choice. It will add an interesting dimension.
Here's my Nagmachon:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/110741/message/1457487892/Nagmachon+nearing+paintI plan on using the female figure from this set:
http://www.hobbyeasy.com/en/data/lqxgst2wtlybkjchqklc.htmlI plan on having her stand in front of the Nagmachon talking to the driver who is hanging out of the hatch chatting her up.

Your Nagmachon looks great! Where did you get that special chain links from? I had a really hard time connecting those bazooka plates...
I like your choice of figures. I would swap the Galil for an M-16 though...The Galil has been never that common among female soldiers, plus it has been phased out by time the Nagmachon "Doghouse" came out (l think...).

Yep, grab a Tavor by Blackdog for that IDF woman, and bring her into the 21st century. Looks great btw, and is a real motivator to start, and finish, mine.

Thanks.
The Clevises I found on Shapeways:
http://www.shapeways.com/product/Z78C4AMSM/040-quot-clevis-set-of-60?li=search-results-1&optionId=59007300They are a bit brittle and while it possible to cut the pin and slip it into the plate and the slip the chain in I found I broke a lot. Finally I just cut the chain and plastic and slipped them over the clevis.
I was wondering about the young lady's "era" if the weapon was right. I pretty much figured I couldn't go to wrong with fatigues and a floppy hat.
