Hello Folks,
Gotta love those gem-like 1/48 Tamiya kits: the detail is excellent, the engineering is top notch, the build is completely hassle free. My only complaint is the solid headlamps.
The kit was painted with custom mixed Tamiya acrylics using the salt technique, weathered with oils and pigments.
Thanks for watching,
Israel

Your Komatsu has a very realistic look for an Imperial Japanese Naval bulldozer in the Pacific. The weathering and painting is what brought out this bulldozer.

Thanks, Jason. Now I just need to build an equally beaten up Zero for companion...

I also built one of these beauties and after I finished I wondered if the headlamps were even used on wartime dozers. I think I've seen a pic or two of them without the headlamps.
Great model, I built mine for the "Engineering the Future" campaign.
Take care,

An otherwise great kit spoiled by those solid headlamps...just another odd omission from Tamiya...

Very nice job indeed ! I have built this kit as well and I agree with your assessment 100 %. While I did not use salt technique on the dozer I have used it on aircraft only I found that the salt leaches into the acrylic paint and creates white rings around it- I have better results with pepper from a pepper mill- the pepper does not adhere as well so you must go a little heavier to allow for some getting knocked off. Here is my effort:
