mounted to either side rear turret NBC box of a Chieftain Mk10. for some odd reason they weren't included in takom's version, and there are NUMerous pix showing such bins. just doesn't look right without them

They are actually fitted to the rears of the stowage baskets and appear to have been a new design for that purpose. Not seen them on any other vehicle types anyway. If your kit didn't include them, your options would appear to be to try to obtain that sprue from Takom, ask if Accurate Armour would sell you the parts from its kit or build them from scratch. I drew them from photos years ago but Andrew Crutchley's plan in Tankette is probably more reliable as they were done later.

looks like I'll be doing without, then. I can't see AA sending only 2 bins, and a full conversion's not worth the cost. email sent. we'll see what happens.
seems voyager has a pe set with them, and there'll be other bits of use too, so...

I've ordered individual parts and PE frets from AA in the past without any issue.
When contacting them be specific about the parts you want...it helps if you have a set of instructions from an existing kit to give the part numbers.
AA will provide you the costs for the parts and shipping.
Easy as pie.

found what I was looking for. AA got the order. I fail to see why it takes 28 days to arrive airmail

Perhaps wait to see if it actually takes 28 days or less to arrive. Accurate Armour is known for their great customer service and quick shipping.
Solid suggestions were offered to you, Accurate Armour is providing you what you want, be a bit thankful.

It's probably just a pessimistic estimate. Under promise and over deliver😀

I think I know the bins of which you speak which were in the Mk 11 from Takom. I will have to check my Mk 10 when I get home :-)
A quick search shows that they are on sprue B which also contains the parts for the TOGS - so yeah they won't be in the Mk 10, Bummer.
I think I recall reading they were introduced on the Mk 11 and were so popular that they were often retro-fitted to the Mk 10. (Caveat - I'm doing this from memory!)

May I ask what the part numbers were? I think I may want to order the same. Thanks!
Were they found on Berlin Brigade Mk.10s?

If it's the square box with the slightly slanted top then it's in the AFV Club Scimitar kit.

I think those bins in the Scimitar kit are Chieftain hull rear bins, not the larger but similarly shaped turret bins. That's what my Scimitar kit has anyway.

No worries. I was guessing that trakpin was referring to the bins that are on the rear corners which are also sometimes seen on the rear of the side bins close to the NBC packs. I think those are the same bins as are on the Scimitar roadwheel sprues.

bins got here yesterday, and quite nice they are, and the ones wanted fit just about perfectly, with a little help from dragon's M1A1 AIM pe bits #'s 1,2 that weren't used. they're a grill surrounded by a frame. they make for a perfect mounting bracket, with a little trimming. the rest of the bins just might find there way onto mengs, or perhaps takom's Mk2
