Hi I got US Long Tom gun as a present and i would like to build it and put it to a small diorama, but did americans use them after D-day in france and germany or somewhere? I have never heard about that gun, so if someone knows a good site where is pictures and info about that gun please share it with me :-)

Yes, Capt. They were used in Europe.

They were almost the longest ranged guns in our inventory. The 8" gun used the same carriage as the 155mm, but I've never herd of anyone trying to do the conversion. Hasagawa also has a tracked prime mover for the gun.

If you go to the gallery and into armor ref and then into roo/'s truck archive. Click on artillery & there is a walk round of a 155 Long Tom

I suppose, you now have to think of a towing vehicle? There was a variant (field modification) of a turretless M10 used in the later part of the war in NW Europe. That would be something to see.....Jim
