China only? I would think they would appeal outside of China too.

Looks like their recently announced T-62 and Type-59 in Chinese boxings. I doubt they are for China only. My guess is that they use the Chinese on their in-China packaging and probably special Chinese markings. We will most likely see them in different packaging and markings in the future.

It was stated by Takom these will be limited edition, available in China only, and available at the China International Model Exhibition.

As stated before, there is no such tank as a T-59. It is a Type-59 which is a Chinese copy of the Soviet T-54.

Sorry, Gino. Somehow I missed your earlier reply.

Likely an April Fools and they will be released everywhere and not just in China. Time will tell of course.

That Type 59 would be one I believe used in Tiennimen Square 1989.
Even if they are in sale only in china someone on ebay will have them for sale so not to worry

If you look at the Chinese characters on the boxes with the exception of the first character, they are identical and I reckon they are variants of the same vehicle; Type 59’s or the top one is a Type 62. The shape of turret is the same for both vehicles.
I’m happy to stand corrected on this but I don’t recall a Chinese version of the T-62 as the Type 62 and 69 were further developments of the Type 59.

I am seeing lots of things about it being April 1st, but I don't believe the Chinese get involved with the April 1st tradition. As regards being available in China only, it is likely to be only available in China in these finishes. I do not believe that a company would invest the time and money and then limit their sales of that product.

Model companies, many Chinese ones for that matter, have taken part in April Fool's plenty of times. Meng for example, did a couple years back if I recall right. Is not really that far fetched.

Probably the vehicles depicted will get a worldwide release sometime later, I can't see them limiting their market in that way. Who cares if the box art, decals and marking options slightly differ?
They have released / announced four T-54/55 family releases so far this year, plenty to be getting on with 😊
Edit: Ha! New info!
Apparently these two are cheaper, simplified models for the Chinese market (think vinyl tracks). Source:

Maybe there will be a fuller -featured export version later.
Hope this helps 😊

China's state broadcaster said that April Fool's is an "unChinese" western tradition today.

Both type 59 and type 69 are based on T-54. Neither of them are based on the T-62. The difference between 59 and 69 is type 69 has a smooth bore gun and better fire control.

Unlikely. They were later variants with the 105mm L7 gun - the Type 79, possibly, though to be honest these copies and developments confuse the life out of me.

The top tank looks to be a type69 II QM with the 125 mm gun and new FCS. I really want to see an older T54-2.... Good stuff

Is it not conceivable these kits will be listed on ebay by Chinese dealers? If I really wanted one, that's probably the first place I'd look...
