Building my first model that included a metal main gun barrel. Is there any special way to paint it? Such as priming, sanding, etc?

Don't take it as gospel....but I would say a primer coat and paint as normal....basically normal. Same way they paint cars.

I make sure that it is real clean and a good scrufing with 1200 grit paper then a good water and soap wash and let dry apply regular paint never had a problem!

I would first sand the barrel to remove any tooling marks. Then fine sand for tooth. Prime and then paint as normal as was mentioned above. I use the primer for metal figures but any metal primer should work.

One other thing after, make sure you give it a good coat of grey paint covering the whole barrel and anything else metal, make sure that no tiny, maybe even microsopic metal part goes unpainted.
