Thought I would share a link to my photobucket for those who maybe didnt make it this year. Great venue for the show! Vendors were out in force, and my credit card took a beating too! Southern hospitality was at its finest in the area restaurants, and I look forward to the next time we head south!

Brian,
Perhaps my best memory of the show this year was you entertaining (perhaps chasing is a better word) your kids... I hope you had a good show and your family continues to support you in your modeling efforts.

The AMPS National Show in Sumter was my first scale model show. I was impressed on several fronts. First the attendance on Saturday was pretty good. Second those attendees traveled quite a ways to get to Sumter SC. Third the models were incredible. I took over 161 pictures at the event and have revisited them several times just taking in the details and craftsmanship on the models.

Thanks for posting your pics.

Hi Tony.

I see from your user banner that you're from SC. We'd love to have you join us at our local AMPS club. Our chapter hosted the AMPS convention this year, and we have a very active group.

You can find our local website here: AMPS Central SC

There are links there to our club email contact address.

We meet every 3rd Wednesday of each month, 6-8 pm, at the HobbyTown USA store in the North Pointe Shopping Center (Publix Shopping Center) at the intersection of Two Notch Road and Sparkleberry Lane, Columbia (near the Village at Sand Hill mall in the NE part of Columbia).

If you're interested or have any questions about our club, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Happy modeling!

Many thanks to the AMPS SC Wildcats for helping put on a helluva show. The venue was great, the people were friendly, I got everything on my shopping list and the entire town of Sumter seemed to go out of their way to make us welcome.

I owe a huge amount of thanks to everyone who helped out in that department!!!! It was a very comforting feeling having everyone being so patient with the 3 year old pushing the empty stroller ( I could hear the cringes LOL ) and the 1 year old melting hearts and minds LOL. Got it on fairly good authority they will be at AMPS Nats in 2017 too, but Mommy and Emily ( pebbles) may be doing shopping for girl stuff!!! Dad and Aiden will most definitly be spending some seriously quality time together learning from you all!!!

John, I personally want to thank you for making my family feel welcomed, especially in light of the way the hobby vacation started at the "other" show we stopped at. Mark you also! ESPECIALLY with the entrance we made... (Daddy, I peed)....... yep.... that really happened, not 10 feet in the door, after a 900 mile ride to come to the meca, my son peed through his diaper onto the floor right in front of Mark.... hey, I think we can all understand the excitement LOL...

Thank you for sharing your pictures and I am delighted to hear that those who have posted comments enjoyed their time and visit to Sumter South Carolina.

Our chapter members and especially the committee, worked extremely hard to get things to come together and it really showed that they did an amazing job. My thanks to them.

It was great to see so many new faces and to learn how far and wide the entries came from. How some of them managed to keep their models in one piece is amazing, very little first aid was in evident.

The standard of the entries was high to say the least and I personally enjoyed the whole thing. I gathered a lot of information and ideas and met and made many new friends.

Our HobbyTown store here in Columbia SC. has seen some new customers as a result of the show, thank you, and as long as the chapter is happy, we will continue to host the AMPS meetings.

And, thanks to you, Neil, for being one of our seminar presenters this year!

Your SU-76 & SU-76M presentation was right on time, too, with the new Tamiya kit and the excitement over it. I think that every vendor that brought the new kit was sold out by the end of the show.

I know that I'll be looking forward to your forthcoming SU-76 book, too.

We also need to thank you for taking on the job as Chief Ram Rad this year. I've heard from some of the scorers that there was a noticeable improvement on the accuracy of the entry forms because your Ram Rod crew took special care this year to review them.

Happy modeling!

Thanks, Jeff! Glad someone out there has my back... I must have been thinking about the IPMS club meeting next week.

So, Tony, if you're reading this, our AMPS meetings are on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Same Bat time, same Bat channel, though...
