Quite a lot of colors, depending on the time period and area of operation. Suggest you look into Mike Starmer's books on the subject, as he's made quite a study.

A lot depends on the time-frame & location within the desert theatre, as the MTP's changed quite a bit from when WW2 actually started to when the desert campaign finally finished & the Allies pushed on into Italy.
