Green and black I know, but what shades? Like the 1960's Deep Bronze Green?

I think Tamiya XF-81 Dark Green 2 (RAF) is a decent dark green for British Army vehicles.

Is it supposed to be the same as Deep Bronze Green, or did that change in the 1970's?

I believe it changed some-time in the 1970s- the green became slightly more drab. XF-61 Dark Green and XF-27 Black Green might also be worth a look. Perhaps even using Dark Green 2 as a base and adding some darker greens might get you the deeper green shade you are looking for.

Why I wanted to be sure if Deep Bronze Green lasted into the 1960's and 1970's or not.

Green and Black (actually matt colours of NATO Green and Black - both meant to be infra red defeating)came into British Army service around 1971 - although it is highly likely that British Army of the Rhine used them a little earlier.

Bronze Green - actually Deep Bronze Green was a high gloss colour and was introduced around 1955, replaced - gradually - by the colours mentioned above; so, it all really depends when and where you wish your Saladin to be depicted.

I tend to still use enamels so for a Deep Bronze Green I use a Revell Enamel entitled surprisingly enough "Bronze Green"; note however it will need a gloss varnish to look effective. Humbrol produce a "Matt Bronze Green" No 75 but to my mind is a shade too dark for 1:35, and again requires a gloss varnish.

For the 1971 - and beyond - colours I use, again, an enamel Humbrol "Light Olive" No 86, and for the black patches/stripes I use a very dark grey such as Revell's "Anthracite" No 9 or just mix a very dark grey myself. Pure Black just looks too stark - in my opinion of course.

I have used the Tamiya Field Grey (Acrylic) as a base coat for the NATO Green and that also seems to work very well.

Don't you just love the old British Pathe newsreels? So optimistic!

Colour shown is the gloss Deep Bronze Green; also very interesting to see the camouflaged version of the "Pixie" suit. Regiment shown appears to be the Queen's Dragoon Guards if my memory hasn't completely failed me. Interesting that the calibre of the main armament is described as 75mm as opposed to 76mm - which is what it should be.

The matt green and black scheme would have kicked in as described earlier from 1971.
