Since everyone's ideas can't be approved for full blown campaign status, there are Group Builds. I guess they are pretty much unofficial campaigns. Someone starts a thread and says, "Hey, anyone else want to build an Abrams?" Bunch of other people say "Sure." Then everyone posts their progress in the group build thread as they build the kits.

Brief but hopefully fairly accurate discription...

The explanation is very much appreciated! Now I don't feel quite so stupid. Thanks for the info.

I was looking at the "Goup Builds" section and the guys were referring to a "TD". What is that?

A TD is a Tank Destroyer ... a purpose-built AFV intended to knock out enemy tanks... US TDs would include the M-18, M-36, and M-10, and the Germans fielded the Hertzer and Marder, among others.

TD = Tank Destroyer so the theme of that build will be some type of tank destroyer

I'd love to but the only thing that I have on the shelf right now is a Panther, a AS-90 Howitzer and a HMMWV... I'm just about done with my M32 (it's on the bench ready to be painted now).

IIRC, the TD group build also included "wannabe" TDs like recoilless rifle mounted Jeeps, TOW armed HMMWVs, and ITVs, as well as more traditional jagdpanzers like the Hetzer, Elefant/Ferdinand, Jagdpanther, Jagdtiger, StuG, SU-85, et al.

I really don't have much to trade... my stash consists of a British AS-90 SPG by Hobby Craft, DML Panzer IV Ausf J/Late & Tamiya Panther sdkfz 171/Ausf A (kit # 35065), my wife & 5 kids have it in their heads that they'd rather eat than me have a big stash (talk about selfish!). If anyone is interested just send me a PM and I'd be happy to discuss it.

I didn't know either so don't feel bad , I only started armour a few weeks ago. These people and some i consider experts like most of the generals are fantastic. They know so much and have been here since the beginning of the armorama site I quess.

They have helped me in the small detail you would never see unless you add it to the standard kit. I think they have all gone to shows and won awards too, I think. Don't feel stupid everyone just has to learn. There are no small or ignorance questions on this site, you just have to ask, there like a big family here I have felt very welcome since I joined.

Happy :-) Modeling
