I don't know if any of you might remember, but it took AFV CLUB FIVE YEARS to release their M5A1 (Early) from their date of announcement. It also took them quite a long time to release their follow-on M5A1 (Late).

The next big item from AFV will be their M60A2, and it looks like the wait for that kit will be over 5 months, so IMO, I don't think that TRUMPETER's 5-month wait for the T30 is that far out of line.

All I can say is, I'm GLAD that we're going to get one... Finally...

I only hope that TRUMPETER gets the T30 RIGHT, as opposed to CYBERHOBBY/DRAGON/BLACK PLAGUE consistently getting things WRONG, as far as US/Allied/NATO things are concerned.

I'll second the vote for the T29E3; ditto, above...

What concerns me though, is the lack of an entirely new 1/35 M3 Lee/Grant, a new, up-to-date M3/M3A1-series Stuart/Honey, an entirely new PLASTIC M8 HMC (75mm Howitzer on the M5A1 chassis, see below* ), and a state-of-the-art M18. Honorable mentions go for a new M46, M47, M8 Artillery Tractor, a CORRECT M551 Sheridan, and a Mack No. 7-tonner.

I also (sort of) question the release of the new M37 Dodge Ambulance, when an entirely new WWII WC54 may have been well received...

* THE NEW TMD makes an EXCELLENT M8 HMC Conversion, intended to be used with either of the AFV CLUB M5A1 (also M3A3?) kits as donors, but some modellers may be put off by the expense and complexity of the TMD Conversion. I built the TMD M8/AFV CLUB M5A1 Conversion, and I am VERY satisfied with the results- AFV CLUB announced an M8 HMC some years ago, but that wound up in "never-never land"...

five months is actually not that long for a kit release. but i still think this may take some time before we actually put our hand of these - you know how trumpeter is. First they tease with a catalogue, than months later they preview the build of a kit (like now). than a few months later they schedule the release for a certain months and it takes 2-3 months to find it in stores. My guess is this will be available around Christmas if we are lucky I hope im wrong and it will come out sooner though.

I am absolutely going to get every one kit of this line. looking forward towards the T29E3 the most as well

I'll get one PLUS that Soviet T-18 Light tank!

Lets not forget the M113

It looks T29E1 to me, looking at the shape of muzzle brake.

I don't know... The gun looks much too chunky to only be a 105mm.

Is there any other source than Hunnicutt's "Firepower" to learn about these US heavy experimental tanks? (I've been looking for an "affordable" copy of "Firepower" for several years now.)

They're described very briefly there, but the book itself is very useful.

Wargaming, Co. has been trying to get Firepower back in print but it's been held up in legal troubles.

yes, also it has mufflers and engine deck that gives it away as T29E1 rather than T30
