I've got this resin kit conversion, and its' sweet...just no time as usual to build.

Have all the aftermarket I need to include Bison's decal sheet with more than enough Chilean markings left over to include building the Chilean M24 Chaffee that is planned as well (and they had M41's too).

Very nice,cool to see the diffrent markings and camo.

Did they ever see battle ?

To my research and understanding, these Chilean Sherman's DID NOT participate in any battle/conflict. They were eventually replaced with the Leopard and AMX 30. Rumor has it that these Sherman's remained in service into 2002.

this chileanshermans are from idf-zahal stocks.can also have the m4-sherman still inthe military inventory is the paraguayan army.

Please note that some artistic licence were taken during this build, particularly the camo (I didn't set my airbrush well) and the use of a .50 cal (they used a .30 cal or no one at all), so be careful of using this images as reference for your builds.

Indeed, the M50 was still in Chilean Army service until replaced by Leo 1V bought from Netherlands stock. The tanks were received in mid 80's with no armament, and modernized at the same time M24 Chaffee 's using the same israeeli made 60mm HVMS gun. Also both tanks received new diesel engines, thus the odd exhaust on rear right deck.

About combat, only Chilean Army tanks ever firing in anger were M41's during the military intervention of 1973.

On a side note, I must say that Bison Decals are quite well researched. And a sheet can be used to build many tanks in quite atractive paint schemes. Only problem they are OOP, but some were re-released by AK Interactive

Klaus, beautiful build! Is Israel or any other nation still using the 60mm cannon shown here? Any good references on its performance? Out here in the US Army in the Pacific we have been very happy with Chile's involvement as a Pacific Army and nation! Cheers!

IIRC the 60MM HVMS gun is still in use on M113s and Marders etc around the world, but I do not think the IDF ever used the gun on any production vehicles.

the model of the chilean army is the m50-isherman. one modification of the ww2 fame sherman.

Thanks for your comments guys. To the best of my knowledge the only user of the HVMS 60mm gun was the Chilean Army, even Israel only mounted it on prototipes.

Well, l cannot comment on accuracy issues and Klaus already made his disclaimer but the modell just looks great. Just as l would expect such an old and worn out vehicle would appear. Wear and tear on the edges, the slight metal sheen on hull and turret - l could go on for a while...
