provided that I am not so much in depth with this truck my request is for support in a diorama I am preparing from a picture taken from a book referring to "Operazione Ibis" (Italian identiification for RESTORE HOPE, Somalia 1992-1994).
In a picture are present Italian Armoured Car 6614 and a civilian transport for 2x20" container. Truck should be a 939.
Now: time ago I produced master for 6614 Armoured Car for an Italian company and this image always made me think about the feasability of this dio. I already created container master ( a company wanted them but still waiting for market launch...lucky with masters unlucky with people promises..) and now I want to collect all infos for trail (civilian type) and for correct coupler. I am not sure that M26 Dragon Wagon coupler is still in use but it is the only I found ( probably Real Model make one too expansive: 70 €) so I would scratch one.
Other request is for details of engine bay as truck should appear stopped for a problem, engine cover lifted up, italian soldiers covering perimeter and two US soldiers in trouble with engine.
I would use CMK kits for tyres and engine. No idea of how lights connect with electrical cables... I would like to create a good job.
By the way, this project has been waiting for year till I met your forum. I don't promise that this will be done in short period as I am working on many many projects and would like to finish another diorama in Omaha... but any help will be really appreciated .
My references are WWP book Us Army Truck Tractors in detail" and Capricorn Publication book Army Wheels in detail Nà1 US Army 5 ton Truck M939 series.
can you suggest me other references? Manuals can be found on italian market but their price is excessiva.
Thank you all

Go to this web site:
http://www.logsa.army.mil/etms/find_etm.cfm
and put "M939" in the TM Title Text field. You wil find more manuals for free than you need...
You need Acrobat Reader to read those files as they are in pdf format. I believe also that you need 128-bit encryption enabled in your browser to access those files. Those are quite large files, so you better have good Internet connection before you try to download them. Note that some documents on this web site are not available for public download, but manuals for M939 trucks are!
