How would you duplicate worn paint like on the edges (corners etc) of vehicles? Drybrush?

I use drybrushing, but I am not usually going for an extreme worn edge. I prefer the dirty and faded look as opposed to the beat-up,well-worn look. Just personal preference. For the occasional worn through erde, I use a hard lead pencil to give me the VERY thin line of bare metal showing through.Like on steps, etc.

If you are trying to replicate worn desert camo over a different camo, say like an M1 Abrams from the US Army in Europe, sent to the Middle East, you can try this. Paint the base camo scheme, then after that cures, put on the desert camo. After that sets, use some toothpaste on a rag, your fingertip or a tootbrush and wear away the paint. Clean up with water. The toothpaste will not react with the paint and amy even have a pleasant odor Mke sure to use paste and not gel form of toothpaste.

Just go as far with it till you achieve the look you want.

Hi I've tried a silver pencil as well to show worn edges on armor. Adds a real nice subtle texture to the moded without any mover-statement. And a person could probably use a brownish colored pencil to add a slightly 'rusty' texture on edges as well. I'll have to try this latter suggestion myself.

Take care, Sgirty

I've used drybrushed gunmetal paint on the edges and get great results.
