I was looking through an Abrams interior walkaround and came upon a communications piece mounted above a FFCS from a AN/VIC-3 system. I'm not sure what this is or if it is a member of the AN/VIC-3 system.

The AN/VIC-3 TM is available online and that item is not in it. It looks to be older technology.

I didn't think they put CARC coatings on the interior, so perhaps this is from a system normally mounted outside of a vehicle.

Finally, can you read the ID plate on the side?

It's SINCGARS C11291/VRC Control Monitor.

Yes, I've gone through all of the ROVIS AN/VIC-3 TM's and brochures that I could find from front to back when making my model of it. About half of the stuff I had to model weren't show in the TM but where present in a brochure. I had tried to ID it but the picture wasn't of a high enough resolution to show it clearly. All I could make out was Monitor

It's SINCGARS C11291/VRC Control Monitor.

Thank you Pawel. So I won't have to change anything in my current model.

The SINCGARS C11291/VRC Control Monitor was also used with the VIC-1/2 system as well. So you can use it for that one too.

Yes but it's a SINCGARS part so I will include in a SINCGARS set if I can get enough references and measurements.
