Hello
I have a set of two figures from BlackDog F35038 "Australian Tank crew in Afghanistan". I have no idea what type of uniform they have. Can somebody tell me what camo scheme should I use for those figures and what colours to make it correctly ?
Thank You for help

It seems that they used the desert version of AUSCAM.

Hi Chris,
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) during OP Slipper and Catalyst used 2 camouflage uniforms being Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform (DPCU) the standard (for want of a better descriptor) the green cam uniform and Disruptive Pattern Desert Uniform (DPDU) the sand one.
I recommend you check your references for the correct uniform for the time period as I have reference photos showing both were worn however the personal equipment such as packs, baggage and other stowage remained in the DPCU pattern.
I recently finished 2 ASLAV PC and when I needed to paint the DPCU colours on the packs and the first thing I noted when I compared my uniforms to my packs, chest webbing and hootchie (a large sheet of plastic with many uses but primarily used as a shelter) was the difference in colours. I spent quite a bit of time mixing but I feel that I have come up with good matches which are as follows:
DPCU COLOURS PACKS COATS & WET WEATHER GEAR
Base Colour gunze 27 tan 40%
gunze 50 lime 40%
gunze 66 sandy brown 20%
Light Green gunze 58 interior green 90%
tamiya xf 3 yellow 10%
Orange Brown gunze 346 rough sand 7ml
tamiya xf 59 dessert yellow 1ml
tamiya xf 3 yellow 0.5ml
tamiya xf 64 red brown 1ml
Dark Brown tamiya xf 64 red brown 100%
Dark Green tamiya xf 11 dark green 100%
DPCU COLOURS UNIFORM
Base Colour gunze 27 tan 50%
gunze 50 lime 30%
gunze 31 white green 20%
Light Green gunze 58 interior green 80%
tamiya xf 3 yellow 20%
Orange Brown gunze 346 rough sand 7ml
tamiya xf 59 dessert yellow 1ml
tamiya xf 3 yellow 0.5ml
NO RED BROWN
Dark Brown tamiya xf 64 red brown 100%
Dark Green tamiya xf 11 dark green 100%
For DPDU I used Jason Millers guide
DPDU COLURS UNIFORM
Base Colour vallejo model colour 004 off white 75%
vallejo model colour 120 buff 25%
Pale Green Spot vallejo model colour 004 off white 75%
vallejo model colour 112 yellow green 25%
Pale Purple vallejo model colour 046 blue violet 50%
vallejo model colour 004 off white 50%

vallejo model colour 131 orange brown 25%
Pale Brown vallejo model colour 112 yellow green 80%
vallejo model colour 120 buff 20%
In 2014 the ADF changed to the Australian Multicam Camouflage Uniform. I have not tried to work the colours out as yet.
Hope this helps
David
