Hi!
New to the forum and military modelling. I'm doing a diorama with a MaxxPro serving as SWAT truck. I'm not familiar with military vehicles and whilst building the kit I found something that puzzles me, perhaps someone here can help me out?

Above the front wheel arches there are two almost rectangular indentations. The instructions tell you to fill them with parts, flatting the area out but leaving quite large gaps.

In my ref pics I couldn't see the same indentations or any hatches or whatever in the area. Googled on and found some Maxxpros having a small air vent on the engine bay sides but not as big as the plates in the kit (no such meshed parts are included in the kit).

So, can anyone help me out with why Kinetic chosed to mold the kit this way? For me it will mean some filling and sanding to get rid of the joins but I got interested in finding out why the parts are there in the first place.

best regards
Joel

MaxxPro Plus has this additional mesh there, original MaxxPro does not. Kinetic kit is a basic MaxxPro, so it shouldn't have this mesh, but they made the kit ready for future upgrade to Plus version, which would include a new part with the mesh to be glued in this place.

Great, thanks. As I said, I'm in no way an expert - neither regarding armored vehicles nor models of such, but I find the Kinetic kit to quite detailed. Looking at your pics of the Plus version the vent seems far off the cover part in the standard kit. The hole is large and has a different shape, Plus version doesn't seem to have the vent mounted within a larger plate neither.

Anyhow, out comes the putty and I can move on satisfied with doing the right thing.

Larger plate is made on purpose to make it easier to fill and eliminate the seam. If the seam was too close to the mesh detail (in future Plus kit) it would be difficult to eliminate it without damaging the mesh detail.

While I'm having your attention, what are these intended for? I see some of the Maxxpros got them and some donīt.

fhvn4d, you would probably know as you've been stationed in one of those Maxxproos.
I could just drop it and mount them/leave them out but I've got so many answers/guesses on different modelling sites so now I just NEED to know
