I'm wondering, as well, as to which US figure sets would be applicable to the 2005-2006/07 time? I believe that many of Masterbox's sets would work as well as Trumpeter's US Army Armor Crewman & Infantry. I believe that Live Resin's could work with some backdating. Could some Legend sets also be used for '05-'06/'07 like LF0119 US Army Vehicle Gunner or LF0137 as well as Black Dog figures? For the Black Dog figures, would I have to use the "... Soldier(s) in Iraq" sets or the "... Operation Freedom" sets? I believe that the set BD-F35008 "US Soldier Patrol in Iraq" figure is set around the needed time period. And yes, I know about the figure from Mini Soldiers.
Thanks.

The Blast Models, DToys, Verlinden, and HobbyFan resin figures would work. Select Evolution Miniatures figures would also work (those without the T-shirts).
The Legends figures would work too.
MICH and ACH helmets started being worn around 2001-2002. I'm not sure if they were in widespread use by 2005-2007.
The Live-Resin and Airborne Miniatures figures are actually at the cutting-edge of modern and fit more to today's U.S. soldier appearances.
It's actually the body armor, camouflage pattern, and tactical vests that changes over the years. Osprey Books sells a couple of titles on U.S. uniforms and vests used during the 2000s to present day.

Thanks. But are there anymore sets that would fit well into this '05-'06/'07 time frame? And the Live Resin sets can't be backdated? Do you know the titles of the books?

And check out the "USMC Combat Uniform” book in the “Frequently Bought Together” bundle.
There’s also this book as well, published 2006.

Both books mainly cover infantry uniforms and gear although there is some mention of tank crews.

For Soldiers and Marines from '05-'07, the Interceptor Body Armor System (IBAS) vest is more appropriate. The Improved Outer Tactical Vest (IOTV) first saw action in combat with U.S. Army units in late '07/early '08. Even into late '08, the IBAS could still be seen as the IOTV was being fielded.
IOTV
IBAS vest
The coyote brown vest was only used by the USMC, not US Army troops.
Additionally, the older DCU/BDU uniforms were still authorized for wear until 30 APR 08. ACU started to be issued in about winter/spring '06, but DCUs were still worn until Apr '08.
Kevlars were also worn until about mid '05. After that, MICH helmets were more common.
Dragon's Modern Marines are really good figures for that time period. There is nothing specifically about them that makes them Marines either. They could be used as Army troopers too. They are wearing IBAS vests.
You could also use any of the older Dragon ODS figures (or any other DCU/BDU figures) and swap out the torsos for ones wearing IBAS and have a correct figure as well.
For tankers, the Alpine OIF Modern US Tankers set is perfect as well.
Master Box's Modern US Tankmen in A'stan set could also be used since they are in NOMEX tanker's uniforms and are wearing CVC (Combat Vehicle Crewmen) body armor, which was commonly worn by tankers.

Not sure about the USMC, I was issued an MICH helmet 2004 when deploying.

Assault Models is making modern stuff. It might be too recent for what you're looking for, but it's not really my era, so you'd have to check for yourself. It may well be that their 2012 figures work for 2007.
