Since my Photobucket capacity is almost full, I'm deleting old images to make room for new. Even though I've deleted 20 - 30 files, my capacity has not gotten any larger. Can you not transfer new files into deleted spaces in Photobucket? Is this a bit of a scam where you HAVE to purchase more space for further images?

Hi Biggles,

Yes it is a bit of a scam .
Had the same problem and did the same as you.No increase.
Trying to reach a person is next to impossible.
Ended up having to buy more space.

You can always set up another account using a different username/email.

Good idea! But you can only do that so many times.

Try deleting 20 or 30 per cent of your files, or half of them. I've got 269 photos on there and I'm using less than 9% of my free storage. That means each photo is around 0.03% of the space. Deleting 20 or 30 pix isn't going to do anything.

I deleted the majority of my pics a short while ago, and I remember the storage percentage went down from 12% to 2%.. so you really have to delete a lot of pics to see a change in the available space percentage.

I don't know why anyone puts up with PB. It *constantly* has problems, you constantly get "bandwidth exceeded" crap, and it's very hard to use.

I've been using www.postimg.org for several years and I love it. I've never once had any trouble like you see with PB, and for $10 a year you get essentially unlimited storage. Far superior to PB for my money.

I put up with it because I have never had any of the experiences you lot describe. And hard? I use it for every forum I've ever posted on and for ebay and it has been a non-issue.

As a desktop support tech, I often found the issue was more a PEBCAK thing.

PB used to be my goto site. Have rarely used it now as I find too slow. If ever I do, I just use it for those effects and editing stuff.

Anyways, whichever hosting service used, I'd advice folks to be conscious of the image sizes being stored if space considerations are high.

It's not so much problems I have - just the OP question about image storage, although I do find their photo editing somewhat erratic and inconsistent. I would rather download a free basic software.
