I am noticing a few more banners lately that are REALLY wide. This has the effect of pushing the text off-screen for some of us.
I can reset the size of the image to a fixed width (it's already a fixed height of 70? pixels).
This will mean all of us that have sig banners will likely need to resize them, etc.
Or we can rely on those with currently WIDE banners to resize them.
What say you?
Jim

Hi Jim
A width limit gets my vote! :-)
I find it very frustrating when I have to use the scroll bar to view what's on the screen.
How wide is WIDE? I'll check my own... well it's not as wide as yours... nudge, nudge, wink , wink!
All the best
Rowan

You are currently at 75 pix in height.

Why make everyone go thru that??

Mine is pretty wide. Never realised it before. Croppage will commence directly...

EDIT: Done 375 by 75 pixels. Homage for my hippy brother-in-law.

Speaking as someone without a banner I would just like to say do what ever is needed to reduce the amount of scrolling we have to do. If everybody will police themselves, which I really think will happen, then that's fine. If anybody doesn't police themselves then by all means do it for them.
Just my 2 cents.

Personally I would say - let the members crop things down. We could have the moderators be the crop dusters and PM those individuals with wide banners.

Glack, I agree with your wife. I have loved than banner since you posted it. One Q to anyone, although this may be :
Why does my banner look so "fuzzy" when I post it but it looks fine when I'm Photoshopping it?
PM me answers. I don't want to thread jack.
Thanks,
Shaun

I'm for a set size for the max allowed. What will it be? Currently, mine is set for 500 by 75 pixels. I'm thinking it may be to wide?
Opinions, is it to wide?

Howdy fellas,
As one who also doesn't have a Banner (yet ), I really applaud you guys on your overall creativity. When I make mine I will abide by the size restriction.
I do have to make this one observation though. I generally make a good buck. And as my wife will attest, I am also guilty of occasional 'frivilous' spending. But I am amazed at how many of you can afford Photoshop! I mean, isn't that some rather expensive software!?! Or, are all you guys Graphic Artist's?
Heck, I balked at spending $50.00 on Paint Shop Pro.
Just wonderin'......
Tread. :-)
Oops, almost forgot. I am definitely behind the size restrictions. I was wondering why my browser window would suddenly go 'Biggie' size every once in a while.....thought it was just my bloody computer!

I too have choked on the PS software price, and well, I ain't doing too bad either. I create my banners in MS Image Composer that comes with MS FrontPage, but I export any images that I make into Adobe Illustrator for a better gif file resolution. My version of AI was a gift... good thing too as that's quite expensive as well.

Relatives in the business also help. My brother's got a 2 year degree in Media Arts and Animation, so he had to get this stuff. Let's say I'm holding his backup disc.
YM
EDIT - I should also say that my banner appears to be stretching the forums... I'll but a temporary html restrictive on it...
EDIT EDIT - Oh yeah, I can't... Gah. Gimme a few hours, then I'll fix it. Anyone have an extra jar of spare time I could have?

You don't need the full version of Photoshop. As I have posted numerous times the scaled-down version called Adobe Elements has all the Photoshop features I generally use at a fraction of the cost.
Cheers,
Jim
