Hey folks,
I want to build Mad Max type vehicles. I was going to start from the car kits and for the best base to use on that I find the 1/24-25 scale kits are best. The problem I'm finding is not much armor at that scale. I'm looking for the guns to add to the car and coming up with no real good options.
So, one solution I was thinking was 1/35 scale guns but use larger guns for smaller type guns. Like a tank canon for a .50 on the car. Thoughts? I know this isn't the first Mad Max build so I'm looking for what others have used for their build.
Thanks,
Dave

It would be best to use the correct scale guns so it at least looks plausible. There are quite a few 1/35 car and truck kits that have recently come to the market. Also look for 1/32 scale snap car and truck kits. Lastly, there are 1/34 scale vehicles in die-cast metal available from a company called First Gear. They are a bit more expensive and the metal is harder to work with, but can be used.

I agree with Gino. There's plenty of cheap diecast cars and pick-ups (and some trucks) available from eBay :
http://www.ebay.com/sch/Diecast-Toy-Vehicles/222/i.html?Scale=1%253A34&LH_BIN=1&_sop=15
Giving them the Mad Max look and fitting them with 1/35 weapons should be doable and visually acceptable

There is an option...Dark World Creations makes resin guns and armor for 1/24 cars, but for the Post-Apocalyptic world.

I am venturing down the same path, but on a less apocalyptic, more realistic note.
There isn't much, so you'll need to scratchbuild pretty much anything you want.
Figures are not all that many either and do not expect the same quality as we are used to in 1/35!!

I wonder if there would be some stuff in the 3D printed world that you might be able to scale up or down.
Hasegawa has a 1/24 scale jeep that has an "okay" 50 cal and I think a couple gas cans.
As its MadMax, you could also look at some what-if style weaponry and perhaps some of the non-scale or 1/144 scale gundam weapons from Kotobukiya etc might be adapted.

If you can find them, there's also the 1/24 Revell "Blacktop Warriors" Post-Apocalyptic model kits. They don't come with armor or weapons, but they do come with some spotlights and "rebel" decals. Kits in the top row below...

Hi Dave,
You have the right idea with looking at larger weapons in 1/35 scale for fitment in the 1/24 - 1/25 scale realm. One example is Tamiya Flakvierling set with four guns included for cheap. They scale out to be around the size of the 1/24 scale .50 Cal form Hasegawa, as GCDavidson already mentioned:
another 1/24 scale weapons and equipment maker in resin is Large Scale Armory: http://armorama.com/review/11438

Shapeways now offers more 1/24 guns than when this thread first started.
