Hi guys. I was wondering how to successfully recreate the wavy distortion camo pattern on this gun barrel of this Tiger II.

I tried using sticky tack to border off the painting area but it won't stick; either the stickiness wore off because my hands were sweaty or it won't stick because the barrel is metal. What should I do? Buy legit Blu Tack?

Maybe silly putty might cling better?

Maybe... I'll try another go at my sticky tack with less sweaty hands. If that doesn't work, I'll try silly putty.

Anyone else have some suggestions?

Lay some masking tape on wax paper and cut a wavy line.

Did you paint the barrel with a coat of primer first?

Maybe try a liquid mask applied with a brush.

Hmm... Could do this; how would I adhere the masking tape/wax paper combo to the barrel though if the sticky side of the tap is on the masking tape?

Yeah, it also has the first layer of paint on. The tack stuck to the rest of the turret though...

I do this as well. After cutting the wavy line, peel it off the wax paper and stick it on.

Gosh, that's a good idea... I'll do it! If it doesn't work, I will just buy Blu Tack and see if that works better. The way I see it, it's popular for a reason.

Should I just cut it with scissors?

Try Masking Tape on some glass, draw the pattern and then cut out with a sharp blade or alternatively do the barrel by brush this is how I have done my Three KTs.

Hope that helps Cheers Ben.

hand brush it. The camo pattern already looks to have sharp edges so your one step ahead anyway.
Another idea would to brush on a liquid mask. Apply it thick so when it dries it will come off easy. Do the first camo color..then protect it with a satin clear...do the second color.
