Hello,

I'm looking for some info on the Target Acquisition Batteries ( TAB )of the 3rd Infantry Division during the invasion in Iraq 2003.
Which TAB-units were attached to the division ?

TIA.

Ge,
Get in touch with Gino as he commanding one of the batteries in 3ID's Divisional MLRS Battalion. He should be able to answer your questions

I was actually commander of the TAB, A BTRY (TA), 1-39 FA (MLRS). We were the organic TAB in the division. There were no other full batteries attached. I did have two Q-37 radar sections from 101 ABN attached to me for about 5 days near An Najaf as we were stationary during the time of the sandstorm though.

Hi Gino,

Thanks for replying.
What were the markings on your vehicles ?
Would it be 3I 1-39FA ( leftside ) A-?? ( right side )
And were they wheeled or tracked vehicles ?

TIA !!

You have the bumper numbers correct. We also had a 40 Bn ID number on our vehicles and used the combat chevron to ID platoons. All of our vehicles were wheeled. We had two Q37 radars pulled by M1084 FMTV trucks and three Q-36 radars pulled by M1037 HMMWVs. The rest of the battery was a mix of HMMWVs in various configurations, M925 5 tons, and M35A2 2 1/2 tons.

Are you planning on building a radar section?

Here are some pics of my HMMWV, A6. I forgot about the red phoenix with crossed cannons on the side behind the wheels. We also had 41 as our BN ID number.

Here I am on the hood during the sand storm.
