I have this kit. http://www.onthewaymodels.com/reviews/RevellAG/graphics/2%20Revell%20Flk%2036%20instruct%201a.jpg In addition to the gun and it's limber, a rangefinder and trailer is also included. Was the rangefinder/trailer hitched to the Flak gun and limber, and all towed by one prime mover? Or was the rangefinder towed by a second half-track, or other vehicle? Mostly I've seen only the gun being towed - never seen pics of the rangefinder being towed.

According to your model photo we are talking about the Telemeter KDO Mod. 40 with range finder. That unit was towed by its' own truck with an extended bed. The reason for the longer bed was to accommodate the crate that protected the long range finder tube which was dismounted for transport.

The telemeter could communicate with and control up to six guns, all at the same time.

David, that very first picture of yours is the early style Telemeter and it traveled on a four wheel trailer. The Bronco model is the later style with the two wheel Sd. Ah. trailer. It only took nine men to operate the Mod. 40 instead of the earlier 13-15.

Any pics of KDO Mod. 40 in transport mode? Otherwise I could still do a mini-dio with the rangefinder already in situ and the 88 being manouvered into position.

OR . . . two guys lifting the range finder tube onto the cradles of the fire director.

Based on the few photos of the earlier Telemeter in transit, I would say to dismount the rangefinder tube and cover the predictor computer with a canvas cover.
The Predictor was literally an analog mechanical computer - dust and dirt would not be it's friend!

This was a good thread where we all learned something new. Thanks for bringing up the topic!

...and here's the Kfz. 74 to tow the trailer and to transport the sensitive part in a large box:

David,
Do you have any background information on your fourth photograph (destroyed observation site)?
I can recognize a telemeter (probably an EM 4m 40) but the carriage in the front(with wheels removed) and the platform at the back are a mystery to me. I just don't see any Kdo36 or Kdo40 parts lying around
