Having had a crack at all the 1/25 scale civilian Hummers on the market, I can safely say they are all lacking.

So, just as I've militarized a civilian PT Cruiser, my next conversion project will to to civilianize a military HMMWV. I've chosen the Italeri Desert Patrol HMMWV (yes, I know Academy Hummers are better) for my project. The reasons are that 1) the Desert Patrol Hummer is sort of a one-of that never was accepted by the military; 2) the body can be converted into a "station wagon" variant commonly seen on American highways; 3) the darn thing is dirt cheap and everywhere.

Wish me luck...now what color should it be?

I have seen civilian ones in an awesome pewter/dark metallic gray color. Red sounds good to!

PE just got here and now I'm waiting for the aluminum barrel. Will start it the long weekend (16-18 Feb), but in the mean time, I need something to keep me busy that will go quickly. Quick OOB Hummer, no weathering, little scratch-building. Besides, got a nice Hummer book from Barnes & Noble.

Rob, your PT Cruiser staff car was cool, how about a Plymouth Prowler recon vehicle?

If your feeling brave, go with the two tone! A cool way to practice and would be cool when done. There's something about black and red that can speak volumes...especially after a varnish coat.

I would come up with some type of custom color. I have always liked the way yellow cars stand out myself.

Try the new Tamiya Sprays. They got some cool colors and the finish is awsome. I thold myself that I wouldnt use spray cans again, but these are worth it.
