That is 20pdr, it even has optional Type A barrel, you can't take that for 105mm from any angle...

Just took a look at Ace's catalogue. Quite an impressive array of 1/72. None of that stuff is available locally. How is Ace's fit and appearance?

Their older kits had a lot of issues with fit and detail. Their kits are getting better with the detail being greatly improved. Ace kits are still short run kits. They will eventually get to todays standards. I'd say that they are currently at early 2000's level.

I'm all for a bit of pedantry myself but I have to say that the fume extractor (concentrically fitted, with counterweight bars on the top) looks much more like a 20pdr Type B than any 105mm L7 I can recall seeing.

Wasn't the Airfix Cent a Mk8, not a Mk V?

Comparing this kit to the Airfix is like comparing the AFV-Club Centurion kits to the Tamiya. The Airfix kit is supposed to be a mark 8, but actually scales out to a mark 5 since Airfix missed the extended hull of the Mark 8. This looks so detailed it might be worth getting the Ace kits to have a stable of Cents rather than take out the second mortgage to get the Afv-club 1/35 scale.

Looks like a typical ACE kit. It will require a lot of clean up and work with infinitesimally small parts. Some parts will need to be replaced by more accurate or scratch built versions but it will be great fun to build and will really look the part.

And the Airfix Cent had a tiny turret (as did the M4) for some reason. Always a fun task to scratchbuild.
