About 2 weeks ago I saw a review with color pictures of a paint set sold at craft stores which has a base coat to look like steel and upper coats to look like rust. It looked great on review. But I can't remember where I saw it reviewed,so I don't know who makes it, and when I went into my local art store they looked at my like I had three heads, all of which were different colors. Does anyone remember?

Don't know what product you saw, but it sounds like Rustall, which is usually sold by model railroad shops. You apply a coat of gray paint, then a layer of red oxide, then a mild acid solution to distress it, then a dark wash, then a clear flat binder. It is stunningly real, but it is a long process.

No, this wasn't rustall, as the paint set included the colour for the plate steel as well.

It wasn't modeling paint, per se; someone found this set in a craft store; intended for ceramics, per the review.

You can also try DR. BEN'S, which is made for model railroaders- It can be found on ebay. DR.BEN'S products are also made for "crafters", and they come in dry pastels or in liquid form, for direct use, or thinned down for washes. They can also be mixed, to create your own special effects...
