Hi, I want to know which its the correct color for the CITROEN 11 CV in WWII, for the lamps or the Headlights glass.
Some restored car photos show both, headlight glass in yellow tint, and other with white glass and yellow lamps.
So, the correct one.....
TIA

Alvaro, I was stationed in France with the USAF in 1966. I don't believe France's headlight laws had changed since WWII. The ONLY authorized headlight color for any motor vehicle licensed in France at that time was YELLOW. Any "foreign" vehicles imported into France (US, British, German, etc.) had to have their headlights changed to yellow before they could be licensed. Either yellow lenses or yellow bulbs with clear lenses were acceptable. The only non-yellow headlights belonged to tourists travelling through France. Those yellow headlights were very inferior to white headlights at the time, so many car owners added extra-bright driving lights for night driving (also yellow). My car had a pair Marchal Iode 8" driving lights that were necessary for driving on rural roads at night. Hope this helps.
BTW- I never saw any blue headlights.

I guess Christophe is refering to the blackout headlights that were obligatory during the Occupation. Civilian vehicle owners often paint the lenses in dark blue, leaving just a slit for the light to go through :
Some fitted specially designed aftermarket items :

Thanks Frenchy! I guess 20+ years was long enough for the French to remove the blue paint. Now I know why I never saw any blue headlights.
