Hi guys,
Does anyone know if / what colours beside "Iraqi" sand these were painted??
Also if over sprayed I am guessing standard soviet green underneath??
TIA
Mike

Yes,during the Saddam era in Iraq all military equipment imported into the country was sprayed over, sometimes sloppy. When thinking about it,I think I remember seeing one that was a mix of sand and Soviet green.

Like Jason said they were all mostly sand- but there were some painted sand and green- but I don't think it was Soviet green. I believe the Soviet green was always painted over with sand- the green color sometimes then seen was, I think, applied over the overall sand coat and it was also applied usually as badly as the sand itself so it was often seen well chipped.

We used to call those "Grid square taker outers" because they can eradicate anything in a 1000m x 1000m grid square.

The BM-21 looks to have sand blotches over the Soviet green background.
