The Chieftain Marksman currently preserved at Duxford is missing the two small storage boxes which mount on the fenders and rear hull. What I can't confirm is if these were absent whilst the vehicle was undergoing it's original trials or if they were removed later? The only pics I can find online are contemporary ones of the Duxford vehicle, I can't seem to find any historical ones?
Thanks,
Andy

Hi, The Chieftain hull at Duxford is not the same vehicle as used for the Marksman Trials. I was involved with the original trials, and as far as I can remember the Chieftain hull was a normal Mark 5 with just the turret removed. I believe that the original vehicle was 00EB28, but this is going by memory. Dennis
