Just announcing my latest project.



Yes I know it's an old radio control kit.
I have the Attack Zimmerit and the Voyager Pe.
This is just to see what I can do with it.
I'm not sure how accurate the kit is, but it looks like fun.

Well it's started.

I removed the bumps on the lower front hull, they aren't supposed to be there. They are just for clearance for the motorizing gear.

I filled in the openings for the RC gear mounts.

Filled in all the joints.

Then I covered the lower front end with some thin sheet stock.
This will be covered with Zimmerit eventually .

I have added the small plates with their Nuts to the lower front end.
These are not included in the kit.



I don't know how accurate they are, My pics. that I have show a couple of different ones. Hey it's better than none.

Hi David.
I'm building this just to see what I can do with it, I think that I have read that there are a lot of accuracy issues with it.
Still I'm not a rivet counter, and I think it looks a lot like a tiger I .

I super glued the Nylon bushings in place to keep them from falling out.

The final drive housings are handed so you can't switch them around.


I used only 1 screw on each one, then glued them in place.

The Idler arms needed some clean up on the flat areas.


I glued the torsion arm mounts to the sides without the springs, be sure to get them flush with the sides.

The small parts that fit through the openings should be as shown or the arms will be crooked .

The springs go here.

I used some thin super glue to hold the nuts in place, they kept on falling out.

This is how the arms look after instalation.
You should install the left one first and work your way to the right.


Here is how the inside parts look after assembly .

And yet the real ones were not handed. Hmmm.

Hi David, here is what I meant about them being handed.

The right side has a cut out in it to clear the torsion arm.


The left Side doesn't have it.


Someone screwed up here.

Here's what is next, another correction removing the speaker mounts that show through the large right rear grill.

That's not what I meant. They both had a single cutout. It was useful on the right side because of the torsion bar, but on the left side it ended up near the top of the drive unit.

Here is the inside, there was a volume control slot on the bottom rear. This kit was a radio control model at one time.
I can't imagine what else this was fore.

I removed part of the internal ring, as shown.


It looks a lot better from the outside, I still have to add the mesh screens .

Here I started installing the Zimmerit on the rear Hull.
I used the parts as shown to aid in its placement.

I've been working on the front upper Zimmerit.
It all fits better if the front part is installed first.


Remember all parts need to be trimmed to fit.


Be sure to leave the area on the front edge, it covers the top edges of the lower front.

There's even Zimmerit under the side skirts.

I have some work on the Turret started.
