Dragon's 1/35 Eric von Manstein from their Crimea figure set. Dragon did a better than usual job - the figure actually looks a little like Manstein:

Decals are Tamiya's.

That figure is suppose to represent the master of mobile defence?
Ouch I think it looks horrid.

What - the figure, or my paint job? After all, it is a plastic figure. He does look a little ham-fisted. And Manstein was a portly middle-aged man at the beginning of the war. Looked like a kindly old grandfather, but that couldn't be further from the truth!

PS; Wasn't the "master of mobile defense" Model?

Point taken. But at least he doesn't look like the average Dragon figure.

You're right about that! This guy has some pudginess about him and is a good study for a middle aged man. Actually he kinda look slike me at this point!
But the face. Nothing like the real guy.

Well, it is what it is! I would like to see Hornet (or someone equally good) produce personality (personage) replacement heads - not full figures, just the heads - so you could put them on bodies/uniforms of your choice.

Hi Biggles,
I really like the job you have done with him.
But then I'm also a fan of dragon figures andgiven the limits of plastic injection ,as you put it he is what he is.also your photos are larger than the figure in real life.
Put him on an appropriate base with a title and move on to the next figure.
I'm just in the process of finishing up Dragons Rommel.Thought about using a Verlinden head with goggles only to realise it's a good likeness to Model.thinking now about using the scaled down 120mm Tamiya Rommel head (1/35) or just using the original head and hiding it under the headgear.

Anyway well done.

Chris

Thanks. Maybe the Manstein figure is not great, but the "Guderian" figure from 10th Pz Smolensk set is MUCH worse!

The closest thing so far is from Taesung. He makes several personalities that really look like the folks they are supposed to look like. Panzer Meyer,Peiper,Wunsche, etc.
And it's eithe MB or Miniart that has a personaity set or two and they are really pretty good. Monty, for example.looks very good.
