Just curious what is involved in re-building an old injection molded model. I have a model that I built about 30 years ago, painted with Testor's rattle can and Testor's tube glue for assembly. Is it worth trying to strip the paint and disassemble to start over or am I better off trying to find an unbuilt copy of the long out of production kit?
I've done soaks before to remove paint but not sure what I would need to strip the old Testors. Also, time is at a premium in my life so the idea of spending a some $$$ for a NOS kit isn't totally offensive.
I have to add that my skills have improved dramatically in the last 30 years so looking at the old model as it is leaves me thinking I might be better off starting over with a new kit (expensive/hard to find).

Most kits around thirty years ago are still around and a great many superceded by superior alternatives.

Unless it was a rarity 30 years ago it shouldn't be hard to find today. In fact most armor kits available 30 years still are available. After all that was only the 1980s.

I agree with Stephen, get another version of the kit. It isn't worth trying to strip it and rebuild it.

I would say it isn't worth it,as others stated,most subjects have been reissued wirh much better kits.Unless you want to do it for the challenge or for any sentimental reasons attached to the old build.

This particular kit has not been re-issued as some of the molds were changed for a different product release and as such, unless new molds are made it is doubtful there will be any more produced. NOS kits are out there, just getting harder to find and more expensive.

Find a replacement kit then build it. Display them together as a "Before and After" kind of thing.

What kit is it you're looking for? There's always a chance someone on here might have one they would part with. Wayne

The kit is an AMT Kenworth W925 (either the Movin' On or Watkins) in 1/25.
