Hi!
Does anyone have the book "Syrian conflagration" by Tom Cooper?
It is a good source for modelling?
Many thanks.

I bought it recently, it is an alright book.
I wouldn't really recommend it as a reference book, as most of the photos are too small to pick out some details, and most are black and white, so colour references are left to nine side profiles of various vehicles, and a few colour photos.

I actually think most of the books in these Helion series (Africa, Middle East, Asia @ War) are pretty good references for the price. You can usually pick most of them up off of Amazon and Book Depository for $15-20. As already mentioned, the pictures are typically small and the color profiles are not the greatest, but there are usually a broad selection of photos that can provide good reference on types of vehicles, locations and colors. Can they be used to detail a model - not really, but that's not their purpose (we can buy books like WWP series, Nuts & Bolts, Ampersand, etc. to use for details). And of course the text is informative and useful as well - I thought the Syrian Conflagration was quite good in explaining the numerous factions and forces involved.

I got the book this Friday. Ordered from The Book Depository thru Amazon.ca $21.55 shipping included. There is plenty of text as well as photographs. Most pictures are small, around 3.5 inch x 2.5 inch. The photo subjects are mixture of aircraft, armor and personnel. The set up of the book is similar to the Osprey Campaign series but with a whole lot more pictures (small mostly)but a few illustrated maps showing unit locations. The Osprey Campaign maps show movement of units and changes in front lines. I agree with the other poster, I think the books are a good buy if you can get them for around $20. I have already ordered a few more titles of the Africa@War series (Uganda, Biafra, First Congo War, Rwanda Patriotic Front, Somalia, Iranian Tigers, IAF 1956 Suez War). I cannot wait for Helion Publishing to release Battle of Cuito Cuanavale and Executive Outcomes, Amisom.
