A quick photo of my work in progress M47 dump conversion. I will be building HQ40, which my father drove in Germany in 1953.
AFV Club M35A2 backdated to a M47 gas powered truck.
The dump bed is a hack n build using some parts from Hobby Fan's so called 'M59 Dump Kit".
Tires are from Hobby Fan's Long Tom kit, using the stock truck's 6 hole wheels.
Next chance, I will build the tailgate brackets on the rear sides of the bed. Lengthening/narrowing the fuel tank and adding the driver's step as well.
I actually had some free time while at the dock today (truck driver). This is how far I was able to get in a few hours. Nothing has been aligned/glued, only dry fitted.
Sorry for not having better/more photos, very hard taking photos in the truck.

Sounds like a cool project. Do you have any pics of an M47 dump truck? I can't find any info on it.

Thanks Gino. There are no photos online that I have ever found. It's based on the M44 chassis. I am working from the TM and a couple of vague photos from my father. Here's a photo from the TM.

Thanks again. He would have really loved it, Unfortunately, this is an "In Honor Of" project. I have been planning it for a long time. Lack of time/decent place to work is my enemy.
Hopefully, I will get the chance to cut up a M105 trailer and backdate it to a M104 trailer with a front tailgate added as well. Time will tell.

What an interesting subject, I will be keeping an eye on this Build. The rear singles remind me of the Monogram Eager Beaver truck.

I have the bed where I want it now. I need to cut the rear frame to line up with the dump frame. The front of the dump frame will be shortened also.
The front wall looks as if I cut it too tall, but it actually rises above the side walls and the cab guard sits on it.
Hopefully, I will get the bed clamped together and get some glue on it soon.
Will post an update when time allows.
