Those are ammo casing stencils, enough for 71 rounds.

It's this picture i was concerned about. Here we have 4 barrels or halves on the sprues.

Looks like both the two piece and single piece barrels are split down the length, and the muzzle brake is also in two halves - a bit old school. If I was to get this kit I would definitly replace the barrel with an RB. I would have preferred the rounds to be separate from the ammo racks - but maybe molding restrictions make this impossible. If you want to have some depleted ammo racks you have to get a PE set, if one exists?

Not only gun barrels are of split type, but the exhaust pipes as well, which is the first time I see this approach on a KT in this scale. Hope AM companies will provide everything necessary pretty soon (PE, tow cables, brass shells, gun barrels etc.).

Takom made really strange sprue layout choices for their King Tigers.
It seems the Henschel versions have a non-split barrel and a slide molded muzzle brake while the Porsche Tiger has split barrels and a split muzzle brake?

Let's see how the "new" Dragon King Tigers compare to the Takoms offering.

The upcoming Meng kit, separate interior set and a set of workable tracks are on pre-order in China for 345 yuan (120+135+90), which is about 52 USD. It is the current price of Takom kits at Luckymodel.

HobbyEasy just put up the MENG Tiger on pre-order for $24.77 without the interior or the workable track sets.

Interior set for $23.23
Workable track set for $16.26
Combo of all three for $60.39

Are the Takom tracks workable?

That does look extremely impressive. I've got to admit I really like the fact that some manufacturers are doing vehicles with full interiors these days. I'd never build one myself however as I'd feel frustrated doing all that internal work only for it never to be seen. What I would like to see however is a suggestion of an interior on some tanks for those of us who don't want to go the whole hog.I like to have hatches open, either with a crewman in situ while on the move or hatches open while being rearmed etc. The big void inside is a bit off putting. It's nice to see some of the newer firms on the block tackling the old stalwarts (which I suppose are the bread and butter of the hobby. Tigers, KT's, T34's)but adding something new to the mix. Hopefully it will shake the more established manufacturers out of their comfort zones. Biggles I agree with you on the cables. All that effort and they put plastic ones in. You'd have thought that they'd have put wire ones in as they're that much better and aren't expensive. Any ideas on the cost of this?

You are in luck if you want to build an SU-122, then. I'm just reviewing MiniArt's "non-interior" version of it, and it has enough left in the inside to make it look busy if you leave the hatch open. Let's hope other tanks and other makers will follow.

does anyone know if the Meng kit will have Zimmerit?
I think I will be waiting until I see a review before I get any of these kits, I have burnt by takom in the past.

Thanks for posting those pictures Hisham.

Looks like it’s going to be a good kit but it’s not without flaws. The split barrels and 1 piece tow cables are disappointing, as is the ammo molded to the racks. I suppose there had to be compromises somewhere to keep the costs down. The inclusion of a removable turret roof is a nice touch. I can also see a couple of errors but they are nothing major.

I think it will be worth waiting for the Meng kit as I suspect it will be superior. Takom used a book for reference, Meng had the man who wrote that book!

Oooh, this is a sooo boring - Königs Tiger here and here. With and Without interior, for the same price. Probably was both kits of high quality.... We have here a PanzerKampfWagen VIB mania....

King is my favourite (probably MOST favourite) German Panzer, but i not sure when really bought Meng and Takom together I curious to compared review...

DML KT i have four of five boxes, it´s time for another Tiger !

(But it is a little boring - on Spring a Abrams TUSK mania and now King Tiger mania !)

And it is a same case as AMK Tomcat vs. Tamiya Tomcat.

Takom is prepared to release. Meng - who know ?

Hmmm, this is a really strange:

Meng HAVEN´t Zimmerit.... (you must bought a Zimmeritt decals)
Meng probably haven´t interior (in box).
Meng presented their own kit as CAD ? (may be released THIS MONTH ?)
Meng have a metal Barell as bonus ?
Meng have two nice figures

Dragon and Takom:
have molding Zimmerit paste on kit.
Takom have full interior
and i ready to selling....

I like Meng, but when i saw pictures of their newest King and read what all i must bought....

Takom is probably Winner (have interior, have Zimmerit)...

Or not ?

It's all about your personal preferences really.
Do you think moulded-on zimm looks authentic?
Do you like Takom gun barrels, exhausts and sprockets?
Do you really need all that interior?
Are workable tracks important to you?
Think about pros and cons, consider how much or how little of a kit you want and how much you're willing to pay and make a decision...

Am I wrong in thinking that MENGs KT had molded on zim?

It has no zim. They're going to sell it separately as a decal sheet set.

Of course !

I´am a "Weekend builder". And Tiger II Fan.
I have four DML K.T. in my shelf...
And i can a any little different.
A definitive KT "shake and bake" kit.
I LOVE moulded Zimmerit ! You have it from the box, you can´t make it or bought AM stuffs.
Tamiya, DML, Academy and DML haven´t interior. King Tiger is the same case as Spitfire of "109" in aircraft kits - every plastic kit producer must make it - and i need another new approach - full interior is the good example.
Click n´clack workeable track, open barrels on MG, maybe metal barrel for main gun an complete zimmerit. When you go and have in box all for definitive Tiger II model.
Meng uses old approach - probably very expensive basic kit, 10€/$ Zimmerit on decal, interior kit... and you have a 100€/$ kit... When i bought their Abrams i was impressed. but looks here on review - a 75% only ! And i count - hmm, nice kit, but why haven´t interior, why haven´t parts for M1A1 etc. etc... This is the same problem.

Meng Tiger II without all AM form their home kitchen was probably another standard KT (no Zimm, no interior)kit...
Takom looks (for me) more impressive !

The plastic barrel is a single piece. Only the breach parts are in halves.
