I was wondering if there are any recomendations for a interweb store that I can frequent that has all the usual items I need. Pain, thinners, weathering stuff, aftermarket stuff, diorama stuff like foliage, etc. I am getting too scatterbrained to remember all the places that have all the different items and also keep track of who closed, who opened etc etc.
I usually buy kits from Sruebros but it seems they don't have the selection they used to. Or is it just me?

For what it’s worth ... I keep all of my online purchase confirmations — e-mails from all over the planet! I only delete the shipping notifications. This allows me to electronically search for past purchases from within my computer’s Mail … provided I can remember the item’s name! I also refer to my ScaleHobbyist Watch List, Notification List, and Order History quite often; their site has a really good search engine.

At least we have all of this stuff online to choose from … now if we can just find it!

Happy searching!

Jerry,
I use Scalehobbyist, Spruebrothers and Hobbylink Japan most often. They have a good selection, price and service.

That's a good idea,thanks.
I am really missing my good old hobby shop right now. Avenel Hobbies was the best.

It depends what you want. One-stop shopping may be impossible if you're looking for a specific kit and specific photo-etch upgrade kit, tracks, and specific brass ammunition to go with it, since I haven't found any site that actually had all of them in stock. For more general merchandise, I'll add another nod to scale-hobbyist.

HI Jerry, I will be following this one very closely. Your issues and those of Frozinronin are one of the two biggest reasons I haven't really taken anything past "open the box and put the back side of a blade to the parts" of any project I am thinking of. No LHS for miles and hours. The Internet and shipping charges. The only thing I can think of is to start accounts at the various sites and do wish lists when I visit. uugh!

Thinking Armorcon. And The Hobby Bunker on the way down. Get tools and goodies I think. Then I figure out how to properly post pictures and get on with "Checkpoint Trinity"

I would like to recommend http://shop.lastcavalry.com/
Excellent range of products. Superb service. The owner, Dave Youngquist , is a regular at most of the 'Cons during the year and will give you advice on tips and techniques regarding the products he sells. His site has everything you listed for painting and weathering, and he can order , ( with minimal wait) just about anything else.
Just so its clear, I don't work for them. I'm just a huge fan and and am a friend of the owner.

Just got off the phone with Dave and what a great guy! He is very helpful and tolerant of a newbie like me and made some great suggestions for products that I will need to finish up!

Hope he drops in and takes a look at the beach. I could always use more feedback.

Thanks, Trevor! Great link!

Hi, Jerry!

I shop around on ebay for the cheapest GOOD QUALITY stuff that I can find, then I compare shipping prices, and I add up and compare prices, in order to find the best TOTAL price. I also check the turn-around time. Sometimes THE cheapest investment may take the LONGEST time to get to my mailbox; it all depends on how quickly I want to get my project done, which really doesn't matter much to me, anyway- I have A LOT of patience, and I certainly have no time constraints, since I only build for my own personal pleasure...

Loyalty to one hobby outlet is OK, I guess- But it's also a good way to fall into a rut. I couldn't care LESS if I'm the last guy in the world to get the latest Sd.Kfz.2,433-and-a-half 750cm Gulaschwerfer "Schwidlebruder" mit Papier-mache Dummkopf auf Pz.Kpfw.I (Trop), so if shop A has run out, then I'll look for it elsewhere. As far as supplies AND kits go, LUCKY MODELS is also a good place, and they carry a HUGE inventory of stuff, but I don't really stick with them, either. Call me an "opportunist", but with the rising cost of everything in the hobby sector, my wallet is my deciding factor...

I know that my methods probably don't help you, but this way of doing things is what works best for me. Ebay is simple to use, and having a PayPal account makes it even simpler. Most vendors on ebay combine Shipping, so multiple purchases of kits & supplies wind up costing me less in the long run, especially when I buy in quantity...

Scalehobbyist takes for freaking ever to ship. I love Hobbyeasy and Luckymodels hands down. I get my items from them quicker than Scalehobbyist. And before you ask, Scalehobbyist had the items in stock.

I mostly use Scalehobbyiest. I usually get my orders in 3 or 4 days and they have great customer service. Once they sent me the wrong item and when I informed them about it they overnighted the right one to me and told me to keep the other one!

To review now so all are clear,I am not only looking for kits but also aftermarket detail items,PE and stuff. Also paints, washes, thinners, pigments, etc as well as scratchbuilding supplies and of course, foliage items and groundwork stuff, etc etc. So some of the suggestions being made are good for kits but are they also good for all the other stuff as well?

The two main places I shop are:

Squadron Mail Order

Tower Hobbies (Their page makes it look like they only have remote control stuff but they have much much more).

I have never had an issue with either place. Tower Hobbies has always shipped very fast.
