Just thought I'd share this story . About a year and a half ago I was getting fuel at Whiskey Petes in Nevada when I happened to look in my mirror and saw a convoy of these bad boys roll into the parking lot. I think there were ten in all. So I quick grabbed my camera and no film. Well hell! Not knowing how long these guys were going to be there I didn't buy any film. So I pulled my truck in and parked by these vehicles. My truck looked small in comparison. Anyway I looked the HET's and trailers. Very impressive. Too bad my brain wasn't engaged that day. I could have taken some great reference photos. Ever since that day I either have a throw away camera or film.

They are pretty impressive to see on the raod, I've seen a few cabs on the highways around here (Oshkosh is all of 40 min away, but I'm not sure where they are actually built) but never the whole set up.
Now, where's our styrene1/35th kit ?

I've got photos of my HET at work and there are photos of a HET pile up. Both are in my motor pool gallery (click the logo below).

I know there is a couple of bases close to there that we either picked up or delivered loads to, but a couple years ago I was out west of Topeka Ks on interstate 70 where they have a big proving grounds, well they had a big convoy of these real large vehicles that had a big outdrive on the back with a water prop on them, why in Kansas I'll never know but they were there, but I have no idea of just what they were, now they were taller then my cab, and wider then one lane of the highway, they had to keep one set of tires on the berm to keep from going over the center line. I have never seen anything like them sense, not even in pictures. With them being so large would anybody know what they are? Now the outdrive retracts up at an angle to the back of the vehicle when not in use, then I guess they have hydraulics to put it at the right angle to use for in the water, does anybody have an idea of what I'm talking about. Thank You in advance
