I' m working on a Syrian T-34/85 . Anyone have a pic or two of the "infantry call buzzer" mounted on the right rear?

No idea, been wondering that myself. Also notice the box on the other rear fender and the flanges on the ends of the exhaust pipes on this particular tank? I did however find this , it's been translated from Romanian by computer so isn't perfect:

"By 1961, the tanks T-34 were revitalized and modernized. The tanks were sealed to cross streams with a maximum depth of 5 meters, were mounted gyros, gearboxes 5-speed and preheaters to start the engine in winter, additional filters to the engine to extend lifespan and its Soviet radio stations were replaced with 9 RS modern stations RM-31-T (Czech-made). Between 1960 and 1965 T-34 tanks were adapted for use as needed devices during night-time infrared."

so I suspect they were part of the Romanian modernisation programme?

First thing that came to my mind .... which made no sense ... was it looked like the strainer basket for a fire dept siphon hose. (Drop into a pond and hook to the pump , to keep leaves and crap from getting sucked up.) So, maybe it is something to do with the fording kit.

It's a non return valve that bolts on to the exhaust for deep wading. These Romanian ones also have fittings at the sides/rear of the engine deck for affixing a waterproofing cover.

Excellent info, can see it quite clearly now, I did wonder what bolted on to those exhaust flanges.

Thanks,
Andy
