Just another thing or two to dust. I'm with Hans Hermann, I'd rather be on the "Wiesn" with a Mass of Spatenbrau!
Did you know that Albert Einstein was an electrician who wired the first beer tent (Augustiner?) for electricity?
H-H, is it true that they are putting up a fence around the grounds to try and prevent terrorism? That would be so, so sad.
Prost

Yes, you are correct about the fence. Massive efforts are done on every Volksfest in Germany to protect them from foolish suicide bombers.

You could also visit a large number of monuments and public or private buildings as this week-end is the "European Legacy Days" (not sure of the translation). Museum are supposed to be free.

Do you think I could check the Stuart with my luggage?

It may be unusual today, but I feel all of these items should be on display where everyone who wishes can see them and perhaps share a thought about what they stand for.

The problem is that many places have run out of money to support history. The USS Ling submarine is moored on the Hackensack River in Hackensack, NJ, and is stuck in silt and mud. There is precious little money to manage her upkeep, and I have heard rumors about the city wanting to scrap her.
