I have it painted in the base coat.
Just some more trim painting to go then it's on to the track.

I always enjoy your SBS builds. Your comments and observations are insightful and are very helpful and useful. I also appreciate your rather matter of fact approach in discussing the positive and negative aspects of the build. No drama just the facts.

Now to continue, I have installed the Bogie Trucks, the front is slightly lower because of the extra weight of the additional armor and the front concrete.
I'm not quite sure how accurate this is, but I think it looks about right.

I finally have the Duck Bill extenders for the track finished, except for the painting.
Here is how I did it .
There are tiny nuts to be installed on the end connectors.
After the glue sets trim off the tabs.
Next you will have to drill out the center hole only in the end connector, it is too small for the center pin on the duck bill.

Here's what the pins look like.
I installed the duck bills onto the end connectors but left them on the sprue for painting.
Next I'll be working on the rest of the track.

Why do you need to drill that center hole at all? I'd simply cut off that middle nub and glue the EEC onto the end connector since you already have two other locating pins.
Just a thought.

Hi, Roy!
Extra strength, maybe? I'd trim the center pin off, myself. Once I complete a model, I very rarely handle it once it's placed in one of my display cabinets...

That would work too I guess, it's just the pins aren't in a straight line and you gould get the extenders on upside down if not careful .

Love the Kaizen tracks. I just built the T54E1 and extended end connectors. Excellent tracks.
But mine assemble differently. On the ones I built, the duckbill had an end connector molded on, so it just replaces the end connector from the track kit.
Either way, the Kaizen tracks are going to be my go-to tracks for indy link needs.

I have been working on the rest of the end connectors without the duckbills. I have found an easier and neater way.
First apply a little liquid glue to the small hole in the back of the connector.
You should get a small bead showing through the hole.
Quickly place the nut with its sprue carrier in the hole.
Trim off the sprue carries after glue sets up.

Since I'm using the Duckbill end connectors I only finished half of the regular ones.
Here are the pins, each cut to 12mm long with the ends filed to remove any burrs .

I super glued the pins into the Duckbills.
All ready for final assembly.
I'll be assembling the track next, man I hope this works.

Hi Donald
Great work so far and thanks for documenting it. The work on those tracks looks daunting, you're a braver man than I am.
:)
Cheers!

Well I finally have them assembled and installed, here is how I did it.
I found that I got a little too much super glue on the pins, and instead of scraping the pins down I counter bored the holes in the track blocks about 1mm deep to clear the glue.

I made eight sets of ten for each side, it turns out this is a little too long for the Taska kit.
I had to shorten the track runs from 80 down to 79 shoes.
They are very flexable.
You will have to add a little thin super glue to the outside of the inner end connectors to make sure they stay together.

Here's how they look on the kit.
This is an example of why I like to have the sponsons open, it makes the track install so much easier.
As for these tracks, I'm glad that I only bought one set, the Bronco tracks are a lot easier. I have their panzer IV track set that looks a lot easier. For the sherman (NEVER AGAIN)

Coming along nicely. Those tracks were a bear by the looks of it. Lots of work but worth the effort as they look good on the tank.
