I have my Miniman Factory M911 on the way and I'm trying to come up with something to put on the trailer. Yes, M60's and M1's would be the go to thing, but everyone is going to do that. I want to try something different. Currently I have an M88 on my M1070.

Hi, I remember seeing a magazine article awhile back showing M911/M747's carrying Chieftain's on an exercise in Germany around 1980.Also in the Tankograd book on US tank transporters with a T-62.Hope to get this combo too when funds permit.

Actually, that is an M59 APC, the predecessor to the M113. Look at the profile of the front end, the larger road wheels, and the position of the small troop door in the middle of the ramp.

It could be an M84 (built on M59 chassis), hard to tell from that angle.

I guess you mean mine ploughs? That should fit, however the vehicle must back up onto the trailer because of the angle of approach. So, place the vehicle with the rear to the gooseneck.

No, the M911 was way out of use by the time the M1A2 SEP V2 came into use (about 2015). The latest Abrams that would be appropriate on an M911 would be up to an ODS-era ('90 -'91, early '90s) M1A1. The M1070 HETS was fielded in '92, which replaced the M911.

The M1A2 SEP V2 came into service many years (in 2008??) after the M911/M747 was taken out of service.

The M747 trailer can't handle the weight of the M1/ M1A1/M1A2 tanks, already noted as a problem during the Gulf War.
The initial contract for the replacement (M1070/M1000) was completed in 1992.

Some M747 trailers ended up with civilian contractors but I don't think that a civilian contractor would bid for, or be awarded, a contract to transport M1A2 SEP V2 tanks using a trailer that can't handle the load.
Maybe in wartime conditions but not when civilian rules apply.

Thanks for the heads-up on the M1A2 SEP V2. I find the three-tone camouflage on both vehicles tempting to reproduce and I thought they'd go well together.

What about the D9R? Would that fit in weight- and era-wise?

The D9R, as in Mengs kit, will fit weight-wise, but is also too new. They were first fielded in 1998 by the IDF. The US didn't start using them until the late 2000s in Iraq.

That's two of two missed I'll just follow along the topic to see what else comes up. I like the M107 and M109, so far.
