Beautiful job, you really nailed it. Everything is balanced and makes sense.
The small details within the details are cool, what we look for in telling a story, no?
The perfectly posed figures; the guy carrying a heavy bucket of brews, someone snapping a foto of his buddies, body language telling us it's time for R-n-R!.
I like how you've placed weapons at the ready, but not all over the place. Everything is well thought out and just the right amount of gear and paraphernalia.
Great details everywhere, but I really like the comic books. For me it's a nice touch bc so many of these men we're still so young.
Thank You for your efforts,
Sincerely, Dave

Engin, a quick question. How did you paint all the figures ?
Was it one whole figure at a time or, for example, did you paint boots one day, then uniforms the next, flesh the third day?
Thanks again ! I still find things I haven't seen in earlier visits.

Hello Engin, my Friend!
Sorry it took me a while to comment on this, but I had a diorama to get ready for a show this past weekend and you know how that goes.
This diorama turned out excellent. Your attention to detail is amazing and you did a really good job on the details of the stuff inside the tent as well as making sure all of the details for the BBQ, etc, outside were taken care of. Something else that I admire about your work is your efforts on researching the various elements of this diorama to make sure the finer details would be correct for the unit and time depicted. That means alot to me.
Your efforts with the tent has inspired me to do something similar, but it will be the inside of the finance office at Bearcat with replacements in-processing. Making sure your pay is straight is pretty important and has not been depicted in diorama form. Thanks for the inspiration and showing that such a project is possible.
Looking forward to your next project.
Cheers,
James

Thanks all for your nice comments.
Tom - I painted the figures in production line style.
First flesh tones of all figures, then uniforms and more...
best regards
Engin

While serving my apprenticeship in the art of stacking sandbags, we had two or three cookouts on Sundays. Steaks were hard to come by unless you knew where to get them! We used 55 gallon fuel drums cut lengthways. Grates were home brew, and probably brought from Bragg. Always cooled the beer and soda in merimite cans. That was down on Gator, and were fun times!
Out west the Cook out wasn't as common, but we still did a couple. Those were fun times!
Your diorama is really nice. Brings back some memories.
