Does anyone know what would be needed to backdate Tamiya's Universal Carrier Europe kit, which is a Mk II, to a Mk I?
I have seen that the front armour is simplified and the rear part is different, although have not found clear pics of it.
I am aware of the Riich Model kit, but do not want to mess with 700+ parts for such a small vehicle...
Thanks!

Mike Roof did an excellent build (either here on on Tracklink) of the Riich kit which might help when it comes to comparing parts. Osprey New Vanguard 110 by David Fletcher also covered the Universal and is not expensive. As I recall, he covers some of the differences between marks in it.

OK, my fault, I think I read it somewhere but I was wrong... it's "only" about 635, according to PMMS:

Still a daunting number of parts for such a small kit...

Just buy the Riich kit. I was looking at doing the same thing a few years ago and ended up buying the Resicast conversion. Its not as simple as it looks. There are some differences in the front plate, rear, and with the engine hatches and lights if I remember correctly.

Thanks all for the comments, I will try to gather some info from the Osprey book, Resicast conversion and Riich kit to see if it is feasible to do it myself... If not I will forget the project.
It is not interesting enough for me to spend so much work on the Riich model...
