Hello all,

Does the Challenger 2 have non slip applied anywhere in its Hull or Turret? If it does where does it go? I just bought the Trumpeter, Challenger II Kit and Am starting the build/diorama today. it is going to be pretty simple since it is my first attempt at combining the two. It will be the Two/Tone Brit Camo, In the middle if the desert, maybe perched behind a slight hill, as to have some frontal protection. I was going to use as plaster to create the base. is this the perferred method? I hope this turns out as good in reality as is looks in my head. I will try to post pics on the Rivit reveiw as I go, Keep in mind this will be an OOTB build.

Any help on the Anti-slip will be great as wi want to try Vods method.

it does have non slip on the top of the turret, but good pics may be hard to come by.

you say your gonna do it in two tone camo in the desert. do you mean black over green camo? if so im not sure if a desert detting would be suitible

cheers

yes the black over the green. The British didn't send any to the desert on 1990/1991 that were not already painted the desert tan? I think that trumpeter tried to recreate the non slip on the top of the Turret, would it also go down the slopes also?

Thanks for the info Brit!

the non slip certainly isnt on the sloping front plates, its on top.

the challenger 2 wasnt around in the first gulf war, but some challenger 1s were shipped out without being painted sand.

not sure about this time, ive never seen a pic, but of course that doesnt mean there arnt any!

cheers

Thanks Joe, I will give it a try, Maybe I will go for Kosovo instead, I really love the two tone, but trying to figure out a little Dio for it. You wouldn't have any ideas would you? I am sure you have probably seen more of them than I have, which is none.

Cheers

You could always do a Chally 2 behind a row of gabions as a checkpoint with some of the natives passing by.

herchealer, which kit do you have, is the original release one, or one of the later two.

the challys in kosovo all have the additional chobham armour, or dozer blade. so if you have the first release, you well need to buy one of the aftermarket sets.

the chally 2's non slip surface is pretty rough as it's applied with paint and put on at the unit so dont worry about it being all neat you should be able to see it on the back of the drops
wagon here, on the fuel tanks and any place were you can walk on,

If I don't got it wrong, Chally2 stationed in Germany were shipped to Kuwait in the original 2 tone camo. I have seen pictures of these tanks on board of ships in original camo. But I never saw any picture in the field showing them without being painted in desert scheme.

So if you're doing a dio of one preparing for action in Kuwait, in the original camo, then it makes sense.

Challenger 2s were sent to Oman in in the Gulf 2001 on excercises in standard green/black camo. They ended up pretty encusted with dust as can be seen in the second picture.
