I've been watching a few DML T-34/85 kits on eBay and I want to know which one is the best. I'm looking for a Korean War era one, but any of the late to post WW2 would suffice. I've noticed ones by Maquette (Rudy), Italeri/Zvezda and of course the Tamiya ones. I think I'll pass on the Tamiya ones, too expensive and have heard too many bad things about them. Are any of these real stand out kits?

I'd like to know by Wednesday, 18 February. My local hobby shop gives you a 25% discount on your birthday and I want to pick one up that afternoon.

I have built all of the aforementioned 1/35th scale T-34/85's (to repeat: Tamiya, RPM/Maquette, Zvezda and Dragon)
The best without doubt is the Dragon kit. You can even get it as a PLA Korean War T-34/85.
It is also availible as the UZL T-34/85 with round fenders to backdate to the 1944 T-34/85 of WWII.

Rob,

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with anything other than one of the DML kits. They set the standard for T-34 kits by a long shot. The RPM/Maquette Rudy is a total dog as is the Tamiya kit. The Zvezda kits are not too bad, but compared to the DML kit (which doesn't cost much more) they have soft detail and don't build up as nice.

Yeah, I've heard lots of great things about DML T-34s too... I've personally built the Tamiya kit (their T-34/76) and, while not too bad, isn't anything to write home about... It's one of their older kits - their T34/85 is basically the same kit with a new turret.

Basically, if you don't mind the indie-link tracks, DML is the way to go. If you do, Zvezda is the next best thing...
