I assume the fuel tanks for the 222 , 223 are flanking the radiator ,, just a bit forward of it . Yeah ? ,, no other place and the filler caps are just outboard
Any pics available ?
I have never found a picture of them and how they are plumbed .
... how they are hung etc ..
Thanks

You are correct on the position of the fuel tanks. However, the filler caps are located on the top of the vehicle under the grill behind the turret. The caps were accessed via small grill hatches that could be raised up.
I've looked high and low for pics of the tanks, but no luck. However, we have some pics of the access hatches on Warwheels. I've provided links below.

Thanks ,
These are where the fuel tank vents terminate ? :
The fuel filler caps are beneath those 2 small , square doors in the mesh ? -- or they are further down ?
If you spill fuel it goes into the fighting compartment ?

To answer your questions:
Not sure about the vents.
Yes, the filler caps are below the mesh doors, but not sure how far down. Can't be too far down though, otherwise the crewmen couldn't fill up the tanks.
Not 100% sure, but I don't think so unless the crewman did a terrible job.

Glad I could help.
The Ryton book is not cheap, but worth it if you're VERY interested in the SDKFZ 221/222/223 series.
